Kim Warren

By Steve Baxter

Kim Warren has been around food all of her life. As a young girl she helped in her mother’s and grandmother’s kitchens, baked and sold homemade cookies to pay for a study abroad in college, and worked in restaurants from the age of 16. Kim worked at The Five Alls restaurant while in high school and while earning her degree at the University of Utah. It was here that she realized her love for fine food. She also spent 2 years working at Royce’s fine restaurant. Kim also developed and made all of the desserts for a pizzeria she was affiliated with for a year. Over the past 10 years she has taken more cooking classes than she can count and attended the Cooking School of Aspen where she fine tuned all of her skills and began developing her own recipes and cooking style which she calls “Family Comfort Food”.

Family Comfort Favorites is Kim Warren’s philosophy for bringing amazing dishes to the table that will satisfy the whole family. These recipes have been tested on hundreds of people from ages 3 to 93. Some of the recipes are dishes that have been handed down to Kim from her mother and grandmother, but most of the recipes are Kim’s own creations.

For 18 years Kim worked professionally as a television and commercial producer until her desire to share her love for cooking great food with others became her main focus. Kim wrote and photographed her new cookbook “Family Comfort Favorites.” She teaches cooking classes for private groups and at Orson Gygi’s.

Despite all of the cooking and television production, Kim’s favorite full time job is that of mother to her four beautiful and very busy children. Kim is a Salt Lake City native and lives in Holladay, UT with her husband of 15 years.
