Born in Cuba, Maria’s family was fortunate enough to escape communism and come to the US as political refugees. She became a naturalized citizen as soon as she turned 18 and says she’s very proud to be an American.

Maria attended Florida State University and also Brigham Young University, where she graduated with a degree in Theater and Cinematic Arts. Maria also has a herbology degree from The School of Natural Healing.

Maria has been acting professionally for about 20 years. She is currently writing a book which includes her mother’s recipes, mingled with stories of her family’s life in Cuba.

Additional interests and hobbies include spending time with family and friends, reading, learning, photography, pottery, painting, meeting and learning about new people, traveling to new places, the beach, the mountains, Lake Powell natural medicine, yoga, meditation, dancing (especially modern and Latin dancing) walking in beautiful places- preferably outdoors, real food, creating and designing clothes, toys, TV shows!

In a few words, Maria, would be described as happy, random, creative, passionate, resourceful, optimistic, fun loving, artistic, grateful and easy going.

Maria’s foremost experience is that of being a mother to her 5 amazing children ages 30, 28, 25, 18 and 15. In that capacity she has been a chauffer, cheerleader, counselor, cook, doctor, nurse, secretary, book keeper, financial director, home manager, event planner, psycho analyst, gardener, decorator, inventor, memory keeper, teacher, costumer, and canning & preserving supervisor, just to name a few.
