Recipe: Blackberry Cream Cheese Turnovers

By Steve Baxter

Blackberry Cream Cheese Turnovers

1 package frozen Puff Pastry
1 can best quality Blackberry Pie Filling
1 small package Cream Cheese
1 cup Powdered Sugar
2 Tbsp Milk (or more as needed)
½ tsp. Vanilla Extract
¼ cup water

Remove Puff Pastry from freezer and allow to thaw for about 20 minutes.

Preheat Oven to 400 degrees

Gently roll pastry with rolling pin to smooth out any crack and splits that may have occurred. Then cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.

Spoon 1 tsp cream cheese in the middle of each pastry square. Cover cream cheese with a well rounded tablespoon of pie filling.

Using your fingertips, spread water around the perimeter of the square and fold one side of the pastry over to create a triangle. Crimp edges with a fork to seal.

Place on a silpat or parchment lined baking sheet evenly spaced. Repeat with all turnovers.

Bake for 12 – 15 minutes or until golden browned and puffy.

While turnovers bake, sift powdered sugar into a medium sized mixing bowl and add milk and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Use a little more milk as necessary but add just a small bit at a time.

Drizzle over warm turnovers and serve.
