Sprouting

Sprouting your seeds and beans is a great way to introduce fresh greens into your food storage and to add a great nutritional source. The following steps will get you on your way to sprouting and bringing to life your food storage.

Sprouting Alfalfa seeds:
1. Soak 2 TBSP seeds or beans over night. (3-4 TBSP for sprouting trays)
2. Place seeds or beans in a jar and place nylon or cheesecloth over opening.
3. Rinse and drain your seeds and beans 2-4 times per day, leaving jar in a dark place away from sunlight lying on its side. (A pantry or cupboard works great.)
4. After roughly 5 days, two leaves will have sprouted. Place jar in indirect sun light and your sprouts will gain its chlorophyll and turn green.
5. Remove your sprouts from the jar and place in an air tight zip lock. They will last approximately 7 days.
(Most seeds and beans are sprouted in the same manner.)
