Recipe: Caramelized Nuts

CARAMELIZED NUTS

About 2/3 cup

everyDAYSALAD TOPPERS
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup walnut or pecan halves or pieces
1/4 teaspoon sugar

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the honey
and stir until bubbly and a bit foamy. Add the nuts and continue to stir about
1 minute. Sprinkle with the sugar and continue stirring until most of the
foamy mixture is soaked into the nuts, about 1 minute. Remove from
the heat.
3. Transfer the nuts to a small baking pan, and bake for 4 minutes. Spread on
aluminum foil to cool.
4. Break apart and store refrigerated in resealable plastic bags for several days
or frozen for several months.
