Does your life need a kick start?
Maverik Inc. has partnered with Salt Lake production studio 8fish to produce 20 original episodes of KickStart, a reality show intended to promote their convenience stores through televised entertainment.
“KickStart blends advertising with entertainment by involving brands and products that are congruent with the entertainment,” says Ernie Harker, KickStart producer and President of 8fish. “It makes for better advertising because we see the brand or product as part of the entertainment instead of an interruption.” A variety of sponsors have teamed up with Maverik to produce the 20 episodes that make up a full season. In return, each sponsor receives valuable product placement during the show.
“The Maverik brand is all about extreme adventure,” notes Scott Shakespeare, Maverik Marketing Director. “If we can inspire people to get out and enjoy the amazing local adventure resources and pick up something from Maverik en route, we’ve met our marketing objectives.”
“KickStart is so named because the show centers on taking risk-adverse individuals on extreme adventures to KickStart their lives.” says Ernie.
KickStart host Ron Duncombe explains, “We’ve taken a recent widow solo paragliding, a mother of 6 skydiving at 13,000 feet, a single father of 3 down to Moab for extreme ATV riding, and the list goes on. I’ve got the best job in the world.”
Weekly episodes of KickStart will begin airing Saturday, May 3rd at 10:30PM on KJZZ-14.
