Fields Moseley

By Steve Baxter

In 2001, Fields Moseley came to 2News as a general assignment reporter from Greensboro, NC. After the Olympics, 2News started the 4:30pm show and Fields became the anchor, while continuing his reporting duties on 2News at 10:00. The afternoon show now runs an hour from 4:00 to 5:00.

Originally, Fields grew up in Texas, but at the age of ten, his father’s job took the family to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. They lived there for three and a half years and traveled the world. He got the chance to ski in Switzerland and Austria, tour the Far East and take a safari in Kenya. Their next stop was Anchorage, Alaska where Fields graduated from high school.

He attended the Colorado School of Mines where he studied chemical and mechanical engineering for three years. Less than stellar grades convinced Fields it was time to make a change. He transferred to the University of Colorado in Boulder and within a semester was working toward a journalism degree. He graduated with honors in 1993.

After college he found himself in Midland, TX with a job offer from KWES to be a reporter, photographer, editor and anything else that might be needed. There were plenty of growing pains, but after 13 months he became the morning anchor and six months after that, it was time to go. He also met the woman who would eventually become his wife.

The next stop was Charleston, SC, where Fields was a reporter for WCBD. During his more than three years there, he spent a year as morning anchor and covered education stories in addition to general assignment reporting. He won two Associated Press awards and two more from the Radio Television News Directors Association. In 1998, Fields accepted the job as weekend anchor for WGHP in the Greensboro, High point, Winston-Salem, NC market. He produced weekly stories on most wanted suspects and unsolved crimes. Fields was a general assignment reporter covering a variety of subjects including Hurricane Floyd and President Clinton's visit to the flood ravaged state. He also won an Associated Press award for “Best Sports Feature.”

Fields and his wife have been in Utah more than three years now and are excited to call this state home. They have had their first child since moving here and have plans for more. They also have two Labrador retrievers which demand long walks on a daily basis. The whole family loves the mountains and lifestyle in Utah. From golf and hiking in the summer to deep powder skiing in the winter, there is always something fun to do.
