New housing developments are forcing families to pack up and move, but a lack of affordable housing is leaving them with nowhere to go.
Bill Tibbitts with Crossroads Urban Center says that for many years, about half of the affordable housing units in Salt Lake County have been in Salt Lake City.
But, many of those units have been cleared to make way for new developments and are not being replaced fast enough.
In Salt Lake City, unless the city invests money into development, they can not legally require a developer to provide affordable apartments.
City leaders have talked about changing rules for developers, but no actions has been taken yet.
